Whether you’re from overseas looking to experience the real Jakarta or a local trying to get to know your own place better after work or in the weekend, here’s a guide just for you.

First of all, mobile culture (in both the digital and transient sense) is rapidly dismantling the partitions and cubicles of traditional office spaces. Thanks to Wi-Fi and coworking, there is no need to give up hours of your life being stuck in traffic trying to reach that one office in that famous building in that famous business district.

We’ve spoken enough about the cosmopolitan hubs of our cities. So if Wi-Fi and power outlets are all you need, how about a change of scenery? Let’s get out of the shadows of these skyscrapers and explore the "hidden secrets" and coworking spaces in Jakarta!

Cikini

A place in Menteng area of Central Jakarta with an old town vibe. This is where you’ll find a bustling community of small businesses. Bring a date to the nearby flower market, take a stroll along the Jalan Surabaya Antique Market, or visit Jakarta’s very own planetarium. There’s also a place called Taman Ismail Marzuki which is an artsy complex where they hold film showings and art exhibitions. If you’re creative or simply love to explore the culture-rich nooks, you would love to work in this area.
